As many of you know, I’ve been writing songs, recording, and touring for over 30 years. I’ve released 2 previous Solo albums, 10 Studio albums with The Silos, countless Live and Compilation albums, several Side Project albums, and performed thousands of concerts, all while meeting amazing people like you! Some of you have been with me since my early days in Florida with the Vulgar Boatmen, to the beginning of The Silos in New York, to my LA and Austin days, to my return to NYC, to my current digs in Flagstaff. Some of you I've met on the road in far-flung places, and some may be hearing my name for the first time. Regardless, I truly value each and every person I’ve met along the way. That’s why, throughout my career, I’ve only recorded and released material that I felt was worth the time and hard earned money of my audience. I believe that this project contains some of the best songs I've ever recorded, and I can’t wait to share them with you.
WHY KICKSTARTER? WHY NOW?
Frankly, I am in love with the songs on this album, and with your help I want to give them the treatment they deserve. As many of you know all too well, the current digital environment, file sharing, etc, has made it more difficult to recoup the recording, manufacturing, and promotion costs once the album hits the internet. This time around I want to collaborate with you, my fans and friends to take this record to the next level and give it the exposure it deserves.
WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO?
In the past I've either been given advances from Record Labels or simply put up my own capital to record the albums I've made, then hoped to recoup the costs once the album is released. This very risky method simply doesn't work for me anymore. This time you will have the opportunity to buy the album, and lots of other great stuff, including Paintings and Concerts, in advance to help me make it all happen.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
Over the next thirty days, I’ll give you video access to acoustic versions of songs from the album, answer questions from fans, take song requests, and work with you to make our campaign goal. As a reward for your help, I’m offering a ton of great stuff -- from Handwritten Lyric Sheets, to T-shirts and Caps, to WaltersDogs Prints, Paintings and Portraits, to Live Concerts in the comfort of your own home, and a lot more...oh, yeah, and signed copies and downloads of what I think will be the best album I've made so far.
BUT REMEMBER
Kickstarter fund raising is ‘all or nothing’. We only get the funds if we reach our $12,000 goal. Otherwise, we get nothing. But I’m not worried. I’m sure we’ll get there. After all, we’ve come a long way together already.
